Elon and Liam were walking down the shadowed alleys of the Resort.

“He has the motives, and even admits seeing her hitting her head against that coffee table, and the pool of blood,” said Elon.

“Why would Stefano help him? Why become an accomplice to murder? Especially as we know that they, too, were involved.”

“John does not seem to know about her involvement with Stefano.”

Liam scratched his head with a nervous tick. He didn’t know or he would not admit it to himself.

“Do you believe John thought Stefano helped him bury her as an act of friendship? After he drew such a bleak image of his future? He must have known.”

“Liam, do you think he’s lying? Maybe he didn’t tell us the whole truth about their fight. Maybe they fought for a different reason, much worse, that would have complicated the situation for him. He’s confessing murder. What else could be worst?”

“She humiliated him. John must have pushed everything into the shadow of his mind because his manhood could not take such a blow. The woman he loved and desired rejected him. He wanted to turn his room into their secret love nest, and she did everything to escape it, preferring to eat outside and make friends with other tourists. She even got involved with another man, with a different education and background. At least we know Stefano read books. He is elegant and charming, a ladies ‘man. I think she confronted him when he asked her why she was leaving. Leaving him is not a strong enough reason for a soft-hearted guy like John to slap her with such force.”

“You might be right, bru. She must have told him off. You cannot bolt an educated, independent woman who likes to read. At least that much I’m clear, too. John was hoping for a different girl, the domestic kind who loves to stay at home, waiting for him with a warm meal and a hot body.”

“You just wait to see what awaits you in room 1311,” warned Liam, throwing a meaningful glance at the big man.

Elon smiled. “I can hardly hold my excitement at meeting the woman that poison my best friend.”

“About that… do we know what kind of drug she used?”

Elon handed him a piece of paper. Lab results it said at the top.

“Good God,” Liam exclaimed. “She could have killed me with a higher dose.”

“She is a connoisseur. She used the correct amount to knock you out for the night. The question is: why?”
